Letter to our Friends of the Guild

Dear Friend of The Guild:

Three minutes can change a life. You’ve seen it. At the Summer Conference, those three-minute open readings speak volumes about The Guild’s success in fostering both personal growth and professional connection for women writers:

“This is the place, one of the only places in my world I think, where I feel really, really safe…My favorite kind of writing is that three-minute piece I read aloud. I think I live all year on the response to those pieces.” - Anne Walradt, member since 1992

“In an auditorium of four hundred women I read three minutes of what would become my memoir. From that audience I learned I had a story worth telling.” - Mel Ryane, member since 2013

“I wrote something from the heart on Saturday night for the three-minute open readings...and women were crying and clapping. It was one of the best days of my life... Saturday night I was my own person, and I was recognized as a writer.” - Cora Schwartz, member since 1994

Now we are asking you to take three minutes to help The Guild maintain this rare and wonderful community of support and encouragement that you have experienced with us. We want to make sure it will be here for us all to enjoy in the years to come, and we need your help to do so.

For nearly forty years, The International Women’s Writing Guild has brought women writers together to speak the truth to each other and to be received. We are welcoming a surge of new members; planning regional conferences in California, Florida, and New York; sharing our successes through the Network, Your Latest Page, and our members-only Facebook page; and we’ve found a home for the Summer Conference at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Yet even with all this vibrant energy, income from programs and memberships is not enough to sustain our frugal, barebones organization. Your tax-deductible contribution before December 31 is essential to keep The Guild thriving, growing, and offering what women writers need:

“What a sacred, wonderful, warm, hilarious, exhausting and miraculous experience AND I’ll do it all over again. I recommend this conference to anyone who has guts of thunder and the heart of a lady lion and can bivouac for four to six days nonstop. My writing is strengthened by the loving hands of all who helped along the way. Thank you IWWG and thank you all. I am still in awe.” - 2015 Summer Conference participant

Please take the next three minutes to help the Guild stay strong by writing a check or donating online at

PLEASE JOIN US IN DONATING NOW, at whatever level is right for you.

In the spirit of The Guild,

Judy Huge, President
