The Brand Called You: Defining Your Writer’s Career in Today’s Market with Melissa Rosati

Regardless of your age, past publishing successes or agent representation, you are a brand. Today, readers and publishers have expectations about how you will interact with them.
‘Why buy your book?’
‘What makes you worth a follow on your blog, Twitter, or Facebook?’
In our social world, these are fair questions you need to answer through the representation of your writer’s brand. The first step to building or refining your brand is to understand the “big picture,” of marketing and distribution in today’s publishing environment.

In this workshop, you will learn the following:

  • Why today’s publishing renaissance offers you unprecedented opportunities
  • Why consumers use digital distributors (Amazon, Google, B&N, Kobo, and Apple) for their book purchases and the impact of their choices
  • How a branding strategy helps readers discover and/or find your books in print and digital formats
  • What one step will make the biggest difference in your connections and conversations with readers and potential readers.
Whether you seek a traditional publisher or to publish on your own, this workshop offers you the context for making career decisions based on market facts, not publishing nostalgia or romantic myths.

Melissa A. Rosati, CPCC, is an executive coach, trainer, and publishing strategist.
