Rev. Lisa D. Jenkinsauthor of 40 Days of Biblical & Cultural Insight into the Black Panther Movie, will be interviewed by Jan Phillips about how the record-breaking film Black Panther, "a journey filled with truth and historical vigor that expands our minds spiritually and socially," can be applied to our daily lives.

Rev. Lisa D. Jenkins , as an unwed mother, was kicked out of the church she grew up in. Twenty-four years later, she serves as the first female and the tenth pastor of the St. Matthew’s Baptist Church of Harlem, in New York City. Rev. Lisa received her bachelor’s degree from Pace University and her master of divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary, and she is currently a doctoral student at McCormick Theological Seminary. 

An adjunct lecturer for the City University of New York, Rev. Lisa teaches multicultural studies and has served as an instructor at New York Theological Seminary, where she taught Biblical Exegesis and New Testament Studies, and was a preceptor for the course entitled "The Politics of Jesus."  

Rev. Lisa’s upcoming books include The Other Side of Through: Messages of Hope, Empowerment, Justice, and Faith and a memoir, It's Another Day's Journey: Glass Ceilings, Brick Walls, and Potholes. She is also a contributing author to the third volume of These Sisters Can Say It!, edited by Martha Simmons and Daryl Simms.

Jan Phillips is a writer, musician, and photographer who is currently the co-Executive Director of IWWG. She has been a member since 1989 and has taught at the summer conferences since 1990. As a young activist, Jan made a peace pilgrimage around the world and has taught in 23 countries, written ten award-winning books, created three CDs of original music, and developed a YouTube channel of videos. Her books include Creativity Unzipped, No Ordinary Time, Finding the On-Ramp to Your Spiritual Path, The Art of Original Thinking, Divining the Body, Marry Your Muse, and several others. She is the founder and Executive Director of the LivingkindnessFoundation, which built the Livingkindness Centre for Learning in Ikuzeh, Nigeria.
