WORLD-BUILDING FOR GENRE FICTION (NOT JUST FANTASY) with Paula Chaffee Scardamalia

Whether you write science fiction, fantasy, horror, historical, mystery, suspense, romance or any of the many cross-overs or blends of those genres, you are creating a world for your characters and your reader. In fact, if you write fiction of almost any kind, you are creating a world.

But can you make your world believable for your reader? This workshop includes:

What is worldbuilding and two approaches to it with a few examples
What to include, what not to include and how to avoid world-building as procrastination
The importance of thresholds and threshold guardians for character and story
To map or not to map and your world as character

Includes examples of other authors’ approaches as well as handouts and Q&A.
