One-on-One Coaching

A special opportunity to work one-on-one with writer and performer Mel Ryane. In this special hour-long program, Mel will work with three writers to prepare them to give the best possible reading of their work. Each of the three writers will have a 20-minute segment with Mel to work on and refine their presentation. For $75, each writer receives a private consultation with Mel and gets to practice and polish the video presentation of their work. The writers working with Mel will need to submit what they want to read aloud, ahead of time as one page only, times new roman 12-point font, double-spaced. 

This program is being offered on two different dates and times. If the slots for one date are full, you can register for another. Registration is first come, first served.


Mel Ryane lives in Los Angeles with her husband, William and their dog, Linus. Her memoir, “Teaching Will: What Shakespeare and 10 Kids Taught Me That Hollywood Couldn't” (Familius) was called "lively" and "funny" by Publishers Weekly and "hilarious...a bravura performance" by Kirkus Reviews. 

Mel has taught her workshop Page to Podium: Reading Your Work Aloud for the IWWG as well as other writing organizations and writing conferences across the US and Canada. She has adjusted the class to Verse to Video during the last year to continue reaching writers far and wide.

Born and raised in Canada where, as a teenager, she started a career as a classically-trained theatre actor, Mel eventually moved to New York City before settling in southern California. She began her writing career after working as an actor and as a dialogue coach in film and television. Mel was accepted into the American Film Institute's prestigious Directing Workshop for Women, where she wrote and directed a short film. Her screenplay On the Head of a Pin was a semi-finalist in the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. Her writing has been published in the L.A. Times. Mel is currently at work writing novels.
