Writing Circles

Writing as Restoration

On the restorative power of writing, Julia Cameron says “Writing is medicine. It’s an appropriate antidote to injury. It is an appropriate companion for any difficult change.”

Globally and individually, we’ve experienced unprecedented personal stress and loss. Over the course of four sessions, I will explore writing restoration as meditation, celebration, excavation, and gratitude. Your expression may reveal itself as poetry, prose poetry, narrative, memoir, or journaling. There are no limitations!

I invite you, as Natalie Goldberg says, to “take out another notebook, pick up another pen…in the center of chaos, make one definitive act…say yes, stay alive, be awake. Just write. Just write. Just write.”

Anne Eston is the author of short stories, poems, nonfiction and magical realism. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. She has taught memoir and intuitive writing at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena, CA, and led intuitive writing workshops at Mystic Journey Bookstore in Venice, CA, and online for the Women’s Circle at the Watershed Farm in Ringgold, GA. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two cats.
