Submitting Nonfiction Essays to Magazines or Journals
What are magazine editors looking for? Why are my nonfiction submissions or pitches getting rejected or ignored? In this 90-minute course, writer and magazine editor Bethany Ritz will offer strategies for getting your work published in a magazine.
The workshop will explore how to find the publications that you want to write for, the best ingredients of a first pitch, and the struggle to persist. Additionally, we will dive into the elements of craft that are not only appealing but are also reassuring for editors to see. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have a set plan for researching who you want to work with, a formula for that first pitch, and how to incorporate submissions into your schedule.
